About ITAS

The Information Technology and Applied Systems (ITAS) program was started in 1999 and since then we have hundreds of graduates working across Vancouver Island, in the Lower Mainland and internationally. Many of our Graduates and Instructors are working remotely for global companies. The ITAS program combines aspects of Systems Administration, Networking, Cybersecurity and Internet programming. The program combines theory with hands-on applied learning. We have been able to remain agile by adapting our courses as technology quickly evolves. We are proud our Instructors have decades of combined experience working in Industry and can bring real-world experiences to the classroom environment.

Applied Learning

Our classroom environment operates more like a company where students and faculty have dedicated classrooms where we meet four days a week from Monday-Thursday. Instructors typically introduce concepts for 1-2 hours and then spend the rest of the day working as team members with the students to complete labs or solve problems.

Applied AI

With the innovations in Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT we have embraced that machines can be a valuable tool solving technology problems. Programming interfaces from companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic are being used to power web and mobile applications. Learning how to use and manage cloud-based services is fundamental to integrate information systems with modern AI infrastructure.

Up to date Curriculum

As an example we currently emphasize Cybersecurity in both our Diploma programs. As another example we instruct Python as our introductory programming language. This language can be used for a diverse range of applications from web programming to machine learning and artificial intelligence. Python is in demand by industry and large technology companies provide programming interfaces supporting this language.
